For every action when you paint, there is a reaction which induces the next action. And so on until it seems right. Flowers and circles have been in my imagery lately. I love to play with color.
Influenced by nature, Catherine Gruetzke-Blais works in a variety of paint media and collage. Her focus is on color, rhythm, and texture while trying to bring her compositions to a feeling of unity. She completed MAT and BFA degrees from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. A fine artist and art educator, Cathy has also worked as a scenic artist painting large scale scenery; and as an illustrator, illustrating board games. Additionally, she enjoys textile design, as well as designing and painting public art projects. In 2012, she was selected to paint and collage her design onto one of the large fiberglass rabbits for the Dedham, MA Public Art Project. Thank you! Isn't that interesting...just the other day, I was thinking I want to start trying to paint my ideas from the inside out...not surface, depth. And not necessarily optical illusion depth (painting tricks) but like getting at the guts of my circle ideas and what they might mean, if that makes sense.
